On November 6, 2012 Ambassador of Ukraine in Mexico Mr. Ruslan Spirin participated in the ceremony of the opening of the hydroelectric power plant “La Yesca” in the Mexican state of Nayarit.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President of Mexico Felipe Calderon, representatives of the Government, diplomatic corps and Mexican journalists.
Two turbines manufactured by Kharkiv company “Turboatom” with a total capacity of 750 MW, will ensure energy production of the plant.Producing of the electric power on the plant, which located on the river Rio Grande de Santiago provide with two turbines of the Kharkiv’s enterprise “Turboatom” installed.
In its turn the JSC “Dnipro-SpetsHydroEnergoMontazh” performed assembling of waterpower and hydro mechanical equipment.
This hydroelectric power plant is one of the highest in the world with the fill dam of 208 meters and will meet 3,48 % of the energy demand of the country.
During the five years of the construction of the power plan more than 10 thousands of workers worked there. Two bypass tunnels of a five-storey building height were built with a longitude of 700 and 750 meters correspondingly. 12.2 million cubic meters of sand, gravel and rock were moved.
